Meet the 2014 Harvest Series!

Greetings all!
It's that time again, the leaves are changing, pumpkins are coming in, cider donuts are all the rage.  Yes, it's fall in New England!
This year we are introducing our Harvest Series of ales.  Going forward, styles may come and go from this line-up but the idea will remain the same, roll out fresh, delicious beers that go well with the cooler weather and heartier food!
So let's meet the latest additions:

Left: Rt. 3 English Mild.  Right: Farm 2 Kettle Red Ale

  • Rt. 3 English Mild is the perfect fire-pit ale.  Dark brown and slightly roasty, this beer has a very pronounced malty backbone and almost no hop character.  Easy to drink and at 3.5%, you can drink quite a few!  Perfect for a cool night around a warm fire.  Also pairs well with roast meats, strong cheeses and nuts and rich desserts.

  • Farm 2 Kettle English Red Ale is a real rarity and a local collaboration ale.  We received 18 lbs of fresh cone hops from local farm, Tamarack Farm in Merrimac, Ma.  It was only 4 hours from when the hops were cut and we put them in the kettle!  Because they were so fresh, the hop profile in the F2K is very subtle, very green and very succulent.  There is a great malty Red Ale base with the slightest hit of roasty-ness.  This beer can only be made once a year and is limited in size by the harvest.  Get it while you can!  Pairs well with pizzas, charcuterie and s'mores.
Some fresh hops from Tamarack Farm in Merrimac, MA.
Used in our Harvest Ale, Farm 2 Kettle.

These are just two in the series, you can expect a few more to come off the vats in the coming weeks.  Upcoimg so far:  Blackberry Porter and Flannel Trousers!
Stay tuned for more information on those to be released.

Salud!
